A team of Church of the Brethren denominational staff members has begun coordinating work on translation efforts in order to increase the number of printed resources and provide more interpretation at events. The group, which began meeting last year, is identifying the highest priorities for projects, assembling style guides for use by different translators, and locating funding beyond individual departments.
“Leadership matters,” said an invitation to the L.E.A.D. Conference from Nate Polzin, executive director of the Church of the Brethren’s Discipleship and Leadership Formation which is sponsoring the event.
The featured speaker at Thursday evening’s Discipleship and Leadership Formation Dinner paused a second, as if taking special enjoyment from his introduction as executive director of the Christian Community Development Association. “That was my first time being introduced as Dr. Lorenzo Watson,” he said.
Six intercultural leaders in the Church of the Brethren received the Revelation 7:9 Award during today’s Mission and Ministry Board meeting in Grand Rapids, Mich.
The planning team for the next National Older Adult Conference (NOAC), to be held Sept. 1-5, 2025, at Lake Junaluska, N.C., has announced the theme for the event: “Alive in the Spirit!”
A Church of the Brethren L.E.A.D. (Listen – Equip – Adapt – Disciple) Conference is planned for Nov. 15-17, 2024, sponsored by the denomination’s Discipleship and Leadership Formation department. The event will be hosted at Ephrata (Pa.) Church of the Brethren on the scripture theme 2 Timothy 2:2.
Founa Badet has been hired by the Church of the Brethren as the director of Intercultural Ministry, which is part of the Discipleship and Leadership Formation department.
The Church of the Brethren’s Discipleship and Leadership Formation department is sponsoring a webinar to be held Feb. 8 with Stuart Murray Williams and colleagues Alexandra Ellish, Judith Kilpin, and Karen Sethuraman centered around the forthcoming book The New Anabaptists: Practices for Emerging Communities. The book is to be released in late January.
Part 2 of the webinar “Leading in Alignment and Wholeness” is coming up on Nov. 14. The presenter is Due Quach. The event is online on Tuesday, Nov. 14, at 3 p.m. (Eastern time). Credentialed ministers may receive 0.1 continuing education credit for participating.
