The Nominating Committee of the Standing Committee of district delegates to the Church of the Brethren Annual Conference is presenting the following ballot for the 2025 Conference taking place in Greensboro, N.C., on July 2-6.
Keynote speaker Dennis R. Edwards of North Park Theological Seminary, and preachers Etienne Nsanzimana of the Church of the Brethren in Rwanda and Jeff Carter of Bethany Theological Seminary, led the main sessions at the first-ever L.E.A.D. Conference of the Church of the Brethren on Nov. 15-17.
Early registration for the L.E.A.D. Conference will soon close on Oct. 1. The registration rate will go up to $125 per person after that date. However, for those registering five or more leaders from one congregation, the price remains at $79 per person.
We all share in the nominating responsibility for the leaders of our church. The Nominating Committee has been in touch with every district in the denomination, but we seek your help as ambassadors to stir up the spirit of calling.
“Leadership matters,” said an invitation to the L.E.A.D. Conference from Nate Polzin, executive director of the Church of the Brethren’s Discipleship and Leadership Formation which is sponsoring the event.
The Calling Denominational Leadership Study Committee has developed a survey and is asking Church of the Brethren members to complete it. The survey asks about the experience of the nomination process and suggestions to improve the process.
Business on Wednesday, July 5, included an increase in the minimum cash salary table for pastors for 2024, a request for a study committee on calling denominational leadership, and guidelines for continuing education.
The Annual Conference office is co-sponsoring two online workshops offered by Womaen’s Caucus on the theme “Equipping for Leadership.” All are invited to join! The first webinar titled “Leadership in the Church of the Brethren” will be held on Tuesday, Aug. 24, at 8 p.m. (Eastern time) via Zoom. The Zoom link will be sent out in August.
