A Place of Refuge:
Ministry in the Urban Context
This travel seminar is open to graduate students, Brethren Academy students, and those seeking continuing education credit and personal enrichment.
All students will encounter questions unique to urban ministry in one of the most impoverished neighborhoods of Atlanta. Designed to be an immersion experience, this course will be both hands-on and reflective as students explore a variety of styles and strategies for addressing the complex issues of ministry in large urban contexts. The focus will be on ministries of care dedicated to the goals Jesus outlined in Matthew 25.
Instructors are Josh Brockway, director of Spiritual Formation for the Church of the Brethren; Dan Poole, assistant professor for Ministry Formation at Bethany; and Margaret Elwell, assistant professor of Peace Studies at Bethany and director of Bethany BOLD.
The course brochure provides details and course registration information for Academy and continuing education students. Those seeking graduate credit may contact Bethany Theological Seminary at 800-788-8822.
