L.E.A.D. Conference registration is open for November event on ‘Listen – Equip – Adapt – Disciple’

“Leadership matters,” said an invitation to the L.E.A.D. Conference from Nate Polzin, executive director of the Church of the Brethren’s Discipleship and Leadership Formation which is sponsoring the event.

The conference is planned for Nov. 15-17 at Ephrata (Pa.) Church of the Brethren.

“Learning more about leading well can only help pastors and congregations,” Polzin said. “The Church of the Brethren L.E.A.D. Conference will encourage, inspire, and equip you and your congregation’s leaders to further develop your ministry’s effectiveness.”

The scripture theme is 2 Timothy 2:2: “The things which you have heard from me in the presence of many witnesses, entrust these to faithful people who will be able to teach others also” (NASB).

The event starts the evening of Friday, Nov. 15, and concludes at 12 noon on Sunday, Nov. 17. It will include worship experiences, with the closing Sunday morning worship service led by Bethany Seminary president Jeff Carter; in-depth keynote messages from Dennis R. Edwards, dean and vice president of Church Relations at North Park Theological Seminary; and practical breakout sessions in English, Spanish, and Haitian Creole taught by practitioners who will share lessons they have learned so that attendees can adapt and implement them in their own ministry contexts.

Ministers can earn 0.8 continuing education units (CEUs) for attending, but the conference is open to all local church leaders including board members, deacons, moderators, and pastors. “Every local church leader is welcome!” said Polzin.

Registration is open now and is capped at 250 people due to space limitations. Register by Sept. 1 for the $99 registration price per person, which includes Saturday lunch and dinner and the Friday evening Ice Cream Social. The registration price does not include hotel room reservation. After Sept. 1, registration increases to $125 per person. Register five or more people from the same congregation for a discounted price of $79 per person. Childcare is available for an additional fee.

Hotel room availability may be limited in the area due to another event. Conference blocks of rooms have been reserved at two area hotels. Rooms at TRU by Hilton will be available at quoted prices until Oct. 15, after which date they will revert to their normal pricing. Rooms at the Hampton Inn will be available at quoted prices until Oct. 16, after which date they will revert to their normal pricing.
