Children’s Disaster Services (CDS) deployed four volunteers to Lake Elsinore, Calif., to assist children impacted by the recent wildfire. The volunteers provided a calm and supportive presence for 21 children while their parents and guardians sought assistance at a Local Assistance Center.

The Ventures in Christian Discipleship program at McPherson (Kan.) College begins its 2024-2025 season with a course on “Supporting Children Overwhelmed by Anxiety.” The course will be presented by John Wenger and Adam Wenger. The course will be held via Zoom on Saturday, Sept. 7, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. (Central time). Continuing education credit is available.
The Mutual Aid Agency, which is related to the Church of the Brethren, and its partner agency Brotherhood Mutual are offering a set of resources that are available free to congregations and their leadership. The third to fifth grade children’s group at Annual Conference, led by Angi and Scott Harney of Elkhart, Ind., on Friday, July 5, delivered 103 blankets to the Helen DeVos Children’s Hospital in Grand Rapids.
On Saturday, May 18, our church hosted the event “Bring Jesus to the Neighborhood,” from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.–but we let it go on till 2 p.m. because the kids were enjoying themselves so much!

During the first half of June, Children’s Disaster Services (CDS) volunteers have continued to provide care centers for children during what has been identified as the most active tornado season in the United States since 2017. Most recently, CDS volunteers have worked in Arkansas.
