Fire likely destroys Paradise congregation

Pacific Southwest District Conference Meets on the Theme of ‘Justice’
Brethren from Arizona and California gathered the second weekend of November for the 52nd District Conference of the Pacific Southwest District in La Verne, Calif. Eric Bishop was this year’s moderator, choosing the theme of “Justice: Called to Be Just Christians” from Matthew 5 and 25.

The theme is based on Matthew 5:1-12 and 25:33-45… If we want to call ourselves Christians, to just be Christians, then we must model our lives and our attitudes after Christ.
Russell Matteson Named District Executive for Pacific Southwest District
Russell L. Matteson has accepted a call to serve Pacific Southwest District as district executive, beginning Jan. 16, 2015. He has 18 years of experience in ministry, currently serving as co-pastor of Modesto (Calif.) Church of the Brethren with his wife, Erin Matteson.
Conferees Discuss Bridge-Building at Pacific Southwest District Gathering
Brethren from Pacific Southwest District congregations met recently to talk about how to put hands and feet on a unity statement they adopted in 2007. Some 30 Brethren gathered March 28-30 at Principe de Paz Church of the Brethren in Santa Ana, Calif., to talk about how they could be more intentional in their efforts to build bridges across racial, cultural, ethnic, and religious boundaries.
