The Shine curriculum has released an all-ages resource centered on six key faith practices, in order to help congregations cultivate meaningful faith practices in the home. The six practices—talk, pray, celebrate, serve, learn, and worship—are simple, repeatable actions designed to help families integrate faith into daily routines.
A funny thing happened on the way to retirement–or at least that’s what John Roth, a history professor at Goshen (Ind.) College, discovered. “I just assumed I would retire at Goshen but in 2022 MennoMedia had the idea we should do something to commemorate the 500th anniversary of the Anabaptist movement.”
The temperature on the thermometer read two degrees below zero as hundreds of Anabaptists of all persuasions (and garb) gathered for worship the evening of Tuesday, Jan. 21, 2025, at College Mennonite Church in Goshen, Ind. It was 500 years to the day after a small group of believers met in a private home in Zurich to study scripture together and perform baptisms, an event considered the beginning of the Anabaptist movement.

Work has begun on a first-ever Anabaptist Bible, according to a release from MennoMedia. Brethren Press publisher Wendy McFadden, who attended an Aug. 26-28 event gathering some 45 “Bible ambassadors” from various Anabaptist communities, confirmed Church of the Brethren participation in the project. Also at the event was Josh Brockway, co-coordinator of Discipleship Ministries for the Church of the Brethren.
