La Puente Home provides emergency, shelter, food services, advocacy, and transitional assistance for the homeless and community members in crisis in Colorado’s San Luis Valley. Programs also support migrant farm workers that live and work in the San Luis Valley during harvest season. The project aims to meet immediate needs and to empower people to live independently and with dignity.

Job Descriptions

La Puente Home is a charity organization that serves the homeless, the hungry, and people living in poverty in the San Luis Valley (SLV) of Colorado by providing emergency shelter, food services, advocacy and transitional assistance. The SLV is a very large and rural area; it is larger than the state of Massachusetts and has a population of about 46,000. Over 20% of SLV residents live at or below the poverty line and are in need of support.

La Puente seeks the following volunteers for the following positions:

(A) Enterprises Associate to provide support to the fundraising activities at two La Puente Enterprises’ locations

(B) Homeless Shelter Staff to run the day-to-day shelter operations, including preparing and serving meals, checking in with clients, and overseeing chores. This volunteer will also provide case management to clients.

(C) Outreach/Homeless Prevention Case Manager to provide emergency assistance funds to clients in crisis and handle intake paper work.

English fluency is required and Spanish language skills are preferred.
