Brethren Volunteer Service (BVS) seeks:

(A) An Orientation Assistant to provide ongoing leadership during BVS orientation, assist with preparation for and follow-up after orientation, assist in BVS interpretation, participate in the BVS team, write press releases, maintain a support system for current volunteers, conduct in-service retreats, publish newsletters, and complete other administrative duties as needed.

The volunteer should be at least 21 years old with a driver’s license and a prior completed BVS assignment. Other requirements include the ability to work with a diverse group of people; skills in organizing, writing, photography, and finance; the ability to maintain confidentiality; flexibility; and computer knowledge. A Brethren background is helpful.

(B) The Recruitment Assistant assists with the promotion of BVS through recruitment trips to colleges and national, district, and congregational events. The volunteer also responds to verbal and written inquiries and maintains contact with applicants. Other tasks include advertising through display and print media, coordinating the use of promotional materials, and participating in the BVS team.

Requirements include work experience (preferably in an office situation), completion of a prior BVS assignment, computer knowledge, good communication skills, a valid driver’s license, and the ability to maintain confidentiality. Experience with advertising is beneficial, and a Brethren background is helpful.
