Learning by serving at Bethany

A release from Bethany Theological Seminary

Just a couple of weeks into the fall semester, students in the Bethany BOLD program are already engaged in the Wayne County, Ind., community. Shown here, the group is at Abilities of Richmond, an organization that serves individuals with developmental and physical disabilities (from left: Connor Ladd, Alexia Wilson, Camille Dubler, Joe Buohl, Omar Gad, and Aaron Dubbler, husband of student Camille Dubler).

The students also help serve meals at Bridges for Life, an organization that serves a weekly sit-down dinner to anyone who needs a meal, and BOLD students have also worked with children at after-school programs.

BOLD (which stands for Build, Organize, Love, and Dare) offers exceptional students the opportunity to put their education and faith into action while earning their graduate degrees. The program offers students the opportunity to learn about the community where they are living and to reflect on their experiences. Participants receive full-tuition scholarships, free housing, and a monthly living stipend. Students commit to academic excellence, community living, and no new debt.
