William Waugh is concluding his ministry as executive of the Church of the Brethren’s Southern Pennsylvania District, as of this fall. He has held the position for more than nine years, beginning Jan. 1, 2014. He concludes his ministry on Sept. 16, with compensation continuing through Dec. 31. During these years, Waugh has given broad oversight to district ministries, in particular guiding the process of congregational withdrawals on behalf of the district.
In addition to previous roles on the district level, Waugh currently serves as chair of the Council of District Executives. During his years as a member of the council, he served on the Gifts Discernment Committee. He has served several terms as a delegate to the Standing Committee of the Church of the Brethren Annual Conference. He represents the district on the governing board of the Susquehanna Valley Ministry Center, where he is also an instructor.
Prior to his tenure in district leadership, pastored the Mohrsville congregation in Atlantic Northeast District and the Greensburg congregation in Western Pennsylvania District. He was licensed and ordained by the Walnut Grove congregation in Western Pennsylvania District.
He holds a bachelor’s degree from Messiah University, a master of divinity from Bethany Theological Seminary, and a doctor of ministry from Ashland Seminary.
