Innisfree Village is a therapeutic farm community nestled in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains. The village operates on a “lifesharing” model, where residents live alongside their caregivers in 15 homes. The community includes about 60 residents and 40 volunteers who contribute to various communal activities, including farming, arts, and craftwork. The village includes workstations like a farm, bakery, weavery, and woodshop, where members engage in productive tasks such as growing vegetables, making crafts, and baking bread.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The benefits of experiencing a year in the community will give volunteers the freedom to learn new skills, explore personal growth, and develop meaningful connections with others. During a one-month training and orientation period, volunteers learn house management skills that include cleaning, cooking, laundry, shopping, and finances as well as caring for the personal needs of each coworker. Volunteers are also engaged in therapeutic work in the art studio, bakery, community kitchen, farm, herb and vegetable gardens, weavery, woodshop, and free school activities like pottery and music.
Requirements:
Volunteers must be at least 18 years of age, have the equivalent of a high school diploma, exhibit patience, flexibility, a sense of humor, and positivity. Experience working with adults with disabilities is beneficial but not required.
