The Emanuel Children’s Home (Hogar de Niños Emanuel) needs Volunteers to assist with the physical, emotional, and spiritual needs of abused, disadvantaged, and homeless children ranging from infant to 18 years of age. The home currently maintains an average of 80 children with an expected increase in population.
Duties include providing a Christian role model for the children while helping with day-to-day activities, special outings, extracurricular activities, education, and disciplinary procedures. Volunteers also work as a liaison between the home and the sponsorship program in the United States, and they help coordinate projects for incoming work groups.
Requirements include a strong Christian commitment and love of children. A strong background in Spanish is helpful but not required. Also helpful, but not required, are computer and Microsoft Office skills. Single applicants as well as married couples may apply. If applicants have special skills to share with the children, they are welcome to discuss their abilities and desires with the on-site executive director of the home. Applicants must be extremely flexible in their daily routines in order to adapt to the demanding needs/schedules of the children and the home.
