bcmPEACE is the community outreach branch of the Harrisburg First Church of the Brethren. They are active in their community in various ways including food distribution, free computer classes, and a youth leadership program. Through bcmPEACE, the organization is able to address community needs and promote peacebuilding efforts, including Agape-Satyagraha, a conflict resolution program aimed at youth, and Heeding God’s Call, which advocates for reducing gun violence.
Job Title: Community Outreach Assistant
Duties and Responsibilities:
The Community Outreach Assistant provides outreach and communication for the service areas of the HFCOB and bcmPEACE. Focus will be on strengthening church and bcmPEACE communications in the larger community and on assisting in the organization’s community programs.
The volunteer will revitalize the websites for the church and bcmPEACE, chronicle the activities of both entities, and incorporate other relevant news or announcements on the websites. The volunteer will also assist in revitalizing and updating the church monthly newsletter that goes out to church members and supporters. Likewise, developing a social media presence will be assessed. Other duties may include assisting with youth activities, such as Vacation Bible School, Agape-Satyagraha, referral ministries, and the church’s community garden.
