Project Description:
Volunteers will be a part of the organizations’ work to address food insecurity in the local community. From helping prepare meals to teaching cooking classes, volunteers will directly contribute to food justice. EBM offers a range of services in addition to food provision, and volunteers will have the opportunity to engage in the organizations’ other projects, including peacebuilding initiatives, worship, Irish language classes, community development groups, and more. Volunteers will live and work in East Belfast, a dynamic neighborhood with a rich sociopolitical history.

Job Title: Assistant

Duties and Responsibilities:
The volunteer will primarily support the day-to-day running of the Refresh Café and Meals on Wheels Service. The volunteer will play a key role in delivering a high standard of customer care and food service within Refresh Café. The role includes food service, basic food preparation, kitchen hygiene, and supporting the wider catering functions of East Belfast Mission, including internal events and community meals.

This is a hands-on, practical role that requires creativity in the kitchen, good organizational skills, and a deep respect for the lived experiences of the people they serve.
