Food for Greater Elgin is a small non-profit that makes a huge impact on the over 150,000 people they serve each year. They are seeking volunteers with administrative and interpersonal skills to serve in their guest-choice food pantry that provides food security in the Elgin area. Additionally, Food for Greater Elgin provides access to community resources that helps to stabilize lives. Whether you’re a people person, a spreadsheet wizard, or an organization rockstar, there’s a place for you at Food for Greater Elgin.
Job Title: Administrative/Pantry Assistant
Duties and Responsibilities:
• Assist clients during food distributions — help them shop with dignity/ease
• Sort and stock shelves — keep our pantry organized and ready to serve
• Provide translation support — especially Spanish speakers
• Support special projects — from data entry to event planning
• Unload deliveries — be part of the crew that keeps the food flowing
• Help with registration and check-in — greet and welcome clients
• Keep our space clean and safe — a tidy pantry is a happy pantry
