A team of Church of the Brethren denominational staff members has begun coordinating work on translation efforts in order to increase the number of printed resources and provide more interpretation at events. The group, which began meeting last year, is identifying the highest priorities for projects, assembling style guides for use by different translators, and locating funding beyond individual departments.
The attendees at the Almuerzo de Líderes Hermanos de Habla Hispana (Spanish Speaking Brethren Leaders Luncheon) spoke Spanish, English, and Haitian Creole, sometimes but not always translated from one tongue to another.

Four Brethren Academy students completed their programs in the 2020-2021 academic year. All four students are currently serving churches and are listed alongside their ministry placements. Sisters Julia and Marina Moneta Facini travelled from São Paulo, Brazil, to attend National Youth Conference. They were two of six international participants who were able to get visas to attend the conference through the Church of the Brethren Global Mission and Service.
The Almuerzo, a Spanish-language lunch event sponsored by Discipleship Ministries (formerly Congregational Life Ministries), took place July 5 during Annual Conference in Cincinnati, gathering 51 people including more than 20 pastors and church planters.
A “Families Belong Together” candlelight vigil sponsored by the Office of Peacebuilding and Policy gathered outside the main doors of the convention center in Cincinnati, where Annual Conference is taking place this week.
