Faith leaders from many congregations including Churches of the Brethren in the area around Dayton, Ohio, are gathering for an ecumenical service of lament and mourning in support of detained and deported immigrants. The event is planned for this Sunday evening, Sept. 14, at 6:30 p.m., at the East Dayton Fellowship which is jointly affiliated with the Church of the Brethren.

GFI grants support food ministries at Church of the Brethren congregations, agriculture efforts in South Africa and Venezuela
The Church of the Brethren’s Global Food Initiative (GFI) has given its latest round of grants to support food ministries at four Church of the Brethren congregations in Illinois and Ohio; the Beyond Abundance Program of Phahama Grain Phakama in South Africa; and the purchase of electric mills for indigenous Amazon communities to grind cassava, via the Church of the Brethren in Venezuela.

Madtown Church of the Brethren, East Dayton Fellowship, and Gordonsville Chapel were recognized as new projects, fellowships, and congregations respectively, during the July 5 business session at Annual Conference 2023.
