The World Friendship Center (WFC) in Hiroshima, Japan, is recruiting volunteers for 2026-2028. They are seeking a married couple to serve as co-directors for a two-year placement through Brethren Volunteer Service (BVS). The placement would begin this fall 2026 and end in the fall of 2028.
The WFC is a peace-focused nonprofit created to foster global understanding and promote nonviolence. The center serves as a gathering place for people from around the world to learn about the impact of nuclear warfare. They offer testimony sessions with survivors of the A-bomb, Peace Park tours, international Peace Ambassador exchanges, and English conversation classes.
Volunteer directors serve as hosts, English teachers, and tour guides at the center. Couples interested in this position will complete fall orientation with BVS at Camp Emmaus in Mount Morris, Ill., on Sept. 15-23.
