Douglas Veal has been called as district executive minister for the Church of the Brethren’s Mid-Atlantic District, beginning June 25. Veal is currently pastor of Wabash (Ind.) Church of the Brethren in South Central Indiana District and also has served pastorates in Southern Ohio and Kentucky District and in Virlina District.
He holds a bachelor’s degree from Bridgewater (Va.) College and a master of divinity from Bethany Theological Seminary, has done Clinical Pastoral Education training through Eastern Mennonite Seminary. He was ordained in the Nettle Creek congregation of South Central Indiana District in 2010.
Veal has been an instructor for the Christian Growth Institute of Virlina District and the Brethren Leadership Institute of South Central Indiana District. He previously served as chair of Virlina District’s New Church Development Committee for several years. He has been a member of the New and Renew Advisory Team of the Church of the Brethren denomination for the past 10 years.
He and his family plan to relocate to the Westminster, Md., area.
