In action taken at a July 25 meeting, the board of the Church of the Brethren’s Southern Ohio and Kentucky District unanimously voted to offer Nick Beam a three-year contract renewal to serve as district executive minister. The announcement from the district noted that each of those three years will include a review and re-evaluation process. Also, as a part of the contract renewal, it was decided to drop “interim” from his title.

Greg Davidson Laszakovits to lead Northern Plains District on interim basis
Greg Davidson Laszakovits will begin on Jan. 1, 2026, as interim district executive minister for the Church of the Brethren’s Northern Plains District. He lives in Elizabethtown, Pa., and will serve half-time in a hybrid working style that will involve traveling to the district as needed.
Leah Hileman to lead West Marva District
Leah J. Hileman began Dec. 10 as district executive minister for the Church of the Brethren’s West Marva District, serving in a half-time position. She was ordained in 2011 in Atlantic Southeast District and is currently pastoring Robinson Church of the Brethren in Seward, Pa., in a quarter-time capacity. She lives in Seward and will travel as needed to West Marva District to carry out this role.
Middle Pennsylvania announces interim district executive minister team
The Middle Pennsylvania District of the Church of the Brethren has called an interim district executive minister team to serve beginning July 29. The three-person team consists of Rebecca (Beckie) Zeek, Janet Sell, and Mark Liller. All members of the team will address the needs for pastoral placement and will cover the remaining duties of the position description according to interest and gifts.
David Banaszak announces conclusion of his service to Middle Pennsylvania District
David Banaszak has announced the conclusion of his service as executive minister for the Church of the Brethren’s Middle Pennsylvania District, a position he has held for the past six-and-a-half years since Sept. 5, 2017. He plans to conclude his ministry for the district on July 28.
Douglas Veal to lead Mid-Atlantic District
Douglas Veal has been called as district executive minister for the Church of the Brethren’s Mid-Atlantic District, beginning June 25. Veal is currently pastor of Wabash (Ind.) Church of the Brethren in South Central Indiana District and also has served pastorates in Southern Ohio and Kentucky District and in Virlina District.
Bruce Holderreed retires from leadership of Idaho and Western Montana District
Bruce Holderreed has retired as district executive minister for the Church of the Brethren’s Idaho and Western Montana District, as of June 30. He served in the district leadership position for more than 10 years, since July 30, 2013.
Laura Stone to lead South Central Indiana District
The Church of the Brethren’s South Central Indiana District has called Laura Stone as district executive minister beginning on Feb. 1. She is currently the chaplain at Timbercrest Senior Living Community in North Manchester, Ind., a position she has held since May 2018, and also is a spiritual director.
Byrl Shaver named to interim post leading Michigan District
The Church of the Brethren’s Michigan District has called Byrl Shaver as quarter-time interim district executive minister beginning Jan. 1, 2023.
Mid-Atlantic District calls an interim executive minister team
The Church of the Brethren’s Mid-Atlantic District has called an interim district executive minister team of four people to care for the duties of the district executive minister role, beginning immediately.
