Third round-table discussion focusing on interim/transitional ministry

By Nancy Sollenberger Heishman

A third round-table discussion sponsored by the Ministry Office of the Church of the Brethren will focus on the questions of placement surrounding interim/transitional ministry, including lifting up the resources and guidance that districts are able to supply.

Both pastors and laity are invited to this Interim/Transitional Ministry Zoom round-table discussion offered on Jan. 26, 2026, at 7:30 p.m. (Eastern time).

Some questions to be addressed are:

  • How does a congregation go about finding an interim pastor to help during a transitional time?
  • What questions may be helpful for a congregation or congregational leadership to ask in order to help focus the search for an interim?
  • What questions may a congregation wish to ask potential interim ministers?
  • What may be a realistic timeline for finding an interim minister?

While each congregation is unique, congregations moving through transitions have the opportunity to experience that season as a time of transformation and growth. Discerning the best steps forward during a season of change is an intentional process, grounded in God’s leading. Attend this session to learn more about the possibilities of interim ministries and to learn from each other as we discuss current challenges with those who share a similar journey.

Several district executive ministers will join seasoned interim ministers and facilitators Tara Hornbacker, Enten Eller, and Christy Dowdy in hosting the conversation.
