FaithX registration closes April 1

Registration for summer FaithX service trips closes on Tuesday, April 1. There are still open spots on several youth and adult trips. More information about the trips and availability as well as registration are at www.brethren.org/faithx.

The FaithX staff are encouraging the sharing of this opportunity with family members and congregations. “Invite them to attend a FaithX trip to be part of a meaningful week of service, fellowship, and fun!” said an invitation from coordinator Marissa Witkovsky-Eldred.

For questions or more information, contact the FaithX Office at faithx@brethren.org or 847-429-4337.

Uganda opportunity

This year’s FaithX trip for adult participations is to the African country of Uganda on July 13-20. A few more participants are sought for this opportunity in particular. The trip will have an emphasis on relational service alongside work like construction, painting, etc., in partnership with the emerging Church of the Brethren in Uganda.

A description of the trip:

“Join us in Uganda to volunteer and visit with our emerging Church of the Brethren family! Our group will fly into Kampala and travel approximately 7 hours west to spend the majority of our trip with congregations in and around the town of Kasese. The Ugandan congregations are thriving and our primary volunteering will likely consist of the construction of church structures, which could include activities like brick making, pouring concrete floors, or building. We plan to also visit the Church of the Brethren orphanage near Kasese and will meet with church members in other towns as well. The trip will conclude with a few days of exploration in Kampala.

“This is a wonderful opportunity to spend time with our Ugandan brothers and sisters to learn about their lives, make a positive impact on their community, grow in our shared faith, and explore how people in another country find meaning in the Anabaptist tradition and act on it to create a growing and passionate church!

“Please note that travel time to Uganda will extend total trip length to approximately 11 days. This trip is suitable for all ages 18+ and volunteer projects should be available for a range of physical abilities. A passport, tourist visa, and yellow fever vaccination certificate are required for this trip.”
