“Join us during our Anniversary Weekend as we celebrate 300 years of Conestoga Church of the Brethren!” said an invitation to a special celebration of three centuries of the Conestoga Church in Leola, Pa., taking place Nov. 9-10.
Conestoga is the second Church of the Brethren congregation–after the Germantown Church–to celebrate 300 years of ministry in the name of Jesus Christ in the Americas.
The schedule of events includes on Saturday, Nov. 9, a family fun day from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. and “From the Eder to Conestoga and Beyond” with guest speaker Jeff Bach, director emeritus of the Young Center at Elizabethtown (Pa.) College, at 7 p.m.; and on Sunday, Nov. 10, a celebration service at 10 a.m. followed by a celebration meal.
In addition to Bach, special guests include previous pastors of the congregation, Atlantic Northeast District executive minister Pete Kontra, and Keith Greiner of the Pennsylvania House of Representatives.
“Let us know you’re coming!” said the invitation, published in the district newsletter. Call the church office at 717-656-2493 or visit www.conestogacob.com and click on the button that says “RSVP for 300th Anniversary Lunch.” Please RSVP by Nov. 4.
