Bruce Holderreed has retired as district executive minister for the Church of the Brethren’s Idaho and Western Montana District, as of June 30. He served in the district leadership position for more than 10 years, since July 30, 2013.
His leadership at the denominational level has included a term on the Church of the Brethren’s Mission and Ministry Board from 2005 to 2010. Over the years, he also fulfilled several terms on the board of the Idaho and Western Montana District, including as chair from 2012 to 2013, prior to being called as district executive minister. During his years as a member of the Council of District Executives, he served on the Hospitality Committee.
Holderreed’s previous leadership roles included serving in Vietnam with International Voluntary Service, inspired by his childhood experiences living in India with his missionary parents.
He received his educational training from McPherson (Kan.) College, which led to a career as a science and math teacher in public schools.
