Leading EYN Through Its Most Difficult Time: An Interview with Samuel Dante Dali
Samuel Dante Dali, president of Ekklesiyar Yan’uwa a Nigeria (EYN–the Church of the Brethren in Nigeria), attended the World Council of Churches 10th Assembly as delegate for the Nigerian Brethren. Here he talks about the increase of terrorist violence in northeast Nigeria where members of EYN have been among the many killed in attacks by extremist Islamists.
Nigerian Brethren Die in More Violent Attacks on Communities, Churches
Leaders of Ekklesiyar Yan’uwa a Nigeria (EYN–the Church of the Brethren in Nigeria) have reported recent violent attacks that have taken lives of church members and destroyed many homes and some churches in northeastern Nigeria. The Global Mission and Service office requests prayer for people who have lost loved ones, those who have lost their homes and churches, and for EYN and its leaders. Global Mission and Service is sending a grant of $10,000 to the EYN fund that aids church members affected by the ongoing violence, and is requesting donations to the EYN Compassion Fund.

Mission Workers Report from Annual Meeting of Nigerian Church
“Our first Majalisa was a good experience,” report Carl and Roxane Hill, Church of the Brethren mission workers with Ekklesiyar Yan’uwa a Nigeria (EYN–the Church of the Brethren in Nigeria). There were over 1,000 in attendance at EYN’s 66th Majalisa on April 16-19.
PAG in Honduras, Brethren in Nigeria and Congo, Friends in Rwanda Receive GFCF Grants
The Church of the Brethren’s Global Food Crisis Fund (GFCF) has given several grants recently, including an allocation of $60,000 to PAG in Honduras, and $40,000 to an agriculture project of the Rural Development Program of Ekklesiyar Yan’uwa a Nigeria (EYN–the Church of the Brethren in Nigeria). Also receiving grants of smaller amounts were a Brethren group in the Congo, and a Friends church in Rwanda.
Nigerian Brethren Experience Another Church Attack, Hold Annual Meeting
Another Nigerian Brethren congregation has suffered an attack during worship, shortly before leaders of Ekklesiyar Yan’uwa a Nigeria (EYN–the Church of the Brethren in Nigeria) are to gather for the Majalisa or general church council, equivalent to the Annual Conference of the US church. EYN’s 66th Majalisa is scheduled for April 16-19

Alert Regarding Fraudulent E-Mail
A fraudulent e-mail has been sent to some Brethren using a fake Hotmail account and the name of Jay Wittmeyer, Global Mission and Service executive director, claiming to ask for funds for the Church of the Brethren in Nigeria. This e-mail is not from Jay Wittmeyer and not from the Church of the Brethren.
More Nigerian Brethren Die in Violent Attacks, US Workcampers Return Home Safely
More Nigerian Brethren have died in violent attacks on churches of Ekklesiyar Yan’uwa a Nigeria (EYN–the Church of the Brethren in Nigeria). The LCC Samunaka church on the outskirts of the city of Mubi was attacked twice in four days, first on Feb. 1 and again on Feb. 4. At least 15 people were killed in the attacks, including eight members of the congregation. Two visitors from the US church were in Mubi on the day of the first attack on the Samunaka church.
