Webinar Highlights Wonder and Imagination to Feed the Spirit

Bethany Seminary Begins Its Search for a New President
Bethany Seminary’s Board of Trustees and Presidential Search Committee have begun inviting inquiries, nominations, and applications for the position of president of the seminary. President Ruthann Knechel Johansen has announced her plans to retire from the position on June 30 next year. Located in Richmond, Ind., Bethany Theological Seminary is the graduate school and academy for theological education for the Church of the Brethren.

Bethany Theological Seminary held its 107th commencement the morning of May 5, in Nicarry Chapel on the Bethany campus in Richmond, Ind. Approximately 150 were present to celebrate the achievements of 16 graduates.

Brethren Academy Updates Its List of Courses for 2012-13
The Brethren Academy for Ministerial Leadership has updated its list of courses for 2012 and extending into 2013. Courses are open to Training in Ministry (TRIM) or Education for Shared Ministry (EFSM) students, pastors, and other interested persons. Ordained and licensed ministers earn continuing education credit for most courses. Courses noted as “SVMC” are offered through the Susquehanna Valley Ministry Center at Elizabethtown (Pa.) Seminary Forum Discusses Intersection of Sexuality and Spirituality
Bethany Seminary’s Presidential Forum on “Joy and Suffering in the Body: Turning Toward Each Other” brought more than 160 people to the campus in Richmond, Ind., on April 12-14. Headlining the event was James Forbes, senior minister emeritus of New York’s Riverside Church and Harry Emerson Fosdick Adjunct Professor of Preaching at Union Theological Seminary.

Ruthann Knechel Johansen, president of Bethany Theological Seminary in Richmond, Ind., has announced her retirement, effective July 1, 2013. The announcement came in conjunction with the semi-annual meeting of the Bethany Seminary board of trustees.
