National Council of Churches Provides Earth Day Sunday Resources

Civilian Public Service Camps Mark 70th Anniversaries
This year marks the 70th anniversary of the opening of a number of the Civilian Public Service (CPS) camps where Church of the Brethren conscientious objectors worked during World War II. Some 15 CPS camps overseen by the Brethren Service Committee opened in 1942.
Ruthann Knechel Johansen to Retire as Seminary President
Ruthann Knechel Johansen, president of Bethany Theological Seminary in Richmond, Ind., has announced her retirement, effective July 1, 2013. The announcement came in conjunction with the semi-annual meeting of the Bethany Seminary board of trustees.
From Vietnam: The Amazing Story of 30 Blind Students
This story of a visit to the Warming House, a school for 30 blind students in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, is written by Nguyen to Duc Linh. She is personal assistant to Grace Mishler, a program volunteer working in Vietnam through the Church of the Brethren Global Mission and Service. The Song and Story Fest that is held each year around the time of Annual Conference this year will be July 1-7 at Camp Emmanuel near Astoria, Ill. The family camp featuring Brethren musicians and storytellers is titled “Illinois Central Song and Story Fest: All Aboard!” with a railroad theme.
