Founa A. Badet, director of Intercultural Ministries for the Church of the Brethren, has scheduled the first “Intercultural Ministries Frontliners Training” for those interested in becoming personally involved and active in the work of Intercultural Ministries.
Also newly announced is an online book club to study Churches, Cultures, and Leadership: A Practical Theology of Congregations and Ethnicities by Mark Lau Branson and Juan F. Martinez.
Intercultural Ministries Frontliners Training
The first training for Intercultural Ministries “frontliners” will take place online next Friday afternoon, April 24, at 3:30 p.m. (Eastern time). The goal of the session is to assess who is interested in participating and taking on this journey with the Intercultural Ministries office, Badet said.
The purpose statement: “This session prepares Intercultural Ministries Frontliners to cultivate hospitality, build relationships across cultures, and support intercultural belonging in the life of the church and community.”

Book study
The online book study of Churches, Cultures, and Leadership by Mark Lau Branson and Juan F. Martinez will be held every other Wednesday at 7 p.m. (Eastern time), starting April 29 through Sept. 23. The first 15 registrants who request the book on the registration form will receive it if needed.
The book was chosen as a resource that recognizes local churches are increasingly multicultural and multiethnic. It calls leaders to develop the competencies needed to reflect the body of Christ’s multiethnic character in worship and mission, blending biblical and theological reflection with insights from the social sciences. The book study is recommended for pastors and church leaders navigating multiethnic congregations; seminary students studying church leadership, ecclesiology, or intercultural ministry; and congregational leadership teams seeking tools for cross-cultural engagement and reconciliation.
