National Youth Conference to include a service project

By Rachel Johnson

The National Youth Conference (NYC) office is excited to share about our service project. Our service project will be… (drumroll please)… Making Fleece Tie Blankets! Many children find themselves in the hospital due to illness and can always use a bit of extra comfort. Fleece tie blankets will be made by NYC participants to be donated to children’s hospitals to help provide some of that comfort.

NYC will be partnering with Fleece and Thank You, a nonprofit that supplies the blankets to make and then helps to distribute them to hospitals across the United States.

During the service project, we will be coming together to cut and tie the blankets. There may even be a chance to share notes or messages for the recipients of the blankets.

In addition to physically serving, we also will take some time to reflect on why we serve, how serving impacts us, and the history of service in the Church of the Brethren.

National Youth Conference 2026 will take place in Estes Park, Colo., at the YMCA of the Rockies on July 18-23. Youth who have completed one year of high school through one year of college (or are age equivalent) and their adult advisors are invited to attend.
