Gifts Discovery Seminar on Sept. 13 is open to all districts

By Marianne Fitzkee

The Ministry Commission of the Church of the Brethren’s Atlantic Northeast District is hosting a seminar focused on helping participants to deepen their understanding of the biblical concept of gifts and to apply this knowledge to their own lives.

The seminar will take place on Saturday, Sept. 13, from 8:15 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at Ridgeway Community Church of the Brethren in Harrisburg, Pa. Check-in, coffee, and fellowship begin at 8:15 a.m. and the training session begins at 8:45 a.m. There is also the option of joining the seminar via Zoom.

Sue Eikenberry, who brings wisdom from over 50 years of ministry, will lead the seminar. She recently retired from serving a congregation in Lebanon, Pa., with her husband, Jim. Sue considers herself a pastor “at large,” preaching when called upon, teaching and leading retreats, facilitating women’s events, and mentoring. Her greatest passions are pointing people to God, primarily through a greater understanding of his character, and creating platforms for others to use their gifts.

The registration deadline is Sept. 3 for in-person participants and Sept. 12 for those joining online. There is a cost of $15 for district members and $25 for those outside the district who wish to attend. The fee is waived for Ridgeway attendees and licensed ministers in Atlantic Northeast District. All participants will receive a seminar workbook, and lunch will be provided for those attending in person.

In addition to valuable instruction, this seminar will provide 0.5 continuing education units to ordained ministers in Atlantic Northeast District and completion credit to licensed ministers in the district. All licensed ministers in the district are encouraged to participate in a Gifts Discovery Seminar during their licensing period.

Register at https://lp.constantcontactpages.com/ev/reg/5dj9ajf. For questions contact the district office at 717-367-4730.
