A release from Shine
Starting this August, Shine Everywhere takes on a new focus—helping congregations make the most of new at-home materials in the revised and updated Shine curriculum for 2026-2027. Designed with today’s churches, teachers, and families in mind, Shine offers greater flexibility, stronger family connection, and engaging new resources while staying rooted in core values of community, peacemaking, service, and following Jesus.
The new features
Shorter units with built-in flexibility: 6-week units, each with an additional FlexSession designed to bring multiple generations together, make it easier to recruit volunteers, welcome newcomers, and adapt to busy church schedules.
Simple ordering, flexible formats: Everything a teacher needs is bundled in one Teaching Kit, including reproducible student pages and at-home materials. Order more printed at-home materials as needed. Print and digital options, with digital teaching kits priced by group size. The same seasonal ordering rhythm: Fall, Winter, and Spring. Units A & B (6 sessions plus 1 FlexSession in each unit) will be available for purchase each season. Order one or both—choose what works best for your church.
New at-home resources: At-home resources for each age level extend learning and support parents and caregivers as they explore the Bible stories together.
New at-home pieces for preK-kindergarten include Family Storybooks for children ages 3–6. Each full-color storybook includes six Bible stories, fun prayers, fingerplays, songs, and other activities. They provide families a way to connect and engage around the Bible stories children learn in Sunday school.
For elementary classes (grades 1-5) the at-home piece is the Flicker Family Magazine, designed for elementary children to read and enjoy. The magazine’s daily readings and activities expand the Bible stories children hear on Sunday. Simple daily prompts help families connect with each other and with God.
For junior youth (grades 6-8), the new Ignite Devotionals are designed explore daily readings, articles, prayer practices, and journaling. These foster deeper engagement with the Bible stories heard in class as well as growth in personal faith habits.
Families can access worship songs from Shine’s Music Playlist via QR codes in each at-home piece—and download them for free.
All of the new at-home pieces are available in print or as digital flipbooks and will be included in the Teaching Kit. They also may be ordered independent of the curriculum.
