Disagreements are a normal part of the human experience. But often disagreements devolve into intractable conflicts that threaten our very identity. Resolving conflict isn’t always as simple as agreeing not to fight anymore—truly transforming conflict often requires a deep dive into our sense of who we are and our formational experiences.
Mediator, professor, and consultant Betty Pries leads us into that deep territory in her book The Space Between Us: Conversations About Transforming Conflict. Join us for a nine-week discussion of Pries’ book. Pries will encourage us to reflect on our selfhood and the way our sense of self affects our relationships and can contribute to conflict.
The discussion will be facilitated by “circuit rider” John Fillmore on Tuesday evenings at 7 p.m. (Eastern time) starting April 21 and concluding June 16. Register for the book study at https://forms.gle/Gxmt4fgh8PBbGmrDA
This book discussion leads up to Pries’ presentations at the Church of the Brethren Annual Conference this summer in Fort Wayne, Ind.: the Discipleship and Leadership Formation Dinner on Monday, June 29; an Equipping Session on the evening of Monday, June 29; and the Clergywoman’s Breakfast on the morning of Tuesday, June 30.
