“Redeeming AI: Biblical Guidelines” is this year’s theme for the pre-Annual Conference Church of the Brethren Ministers’ Association continuing education event. Russell Haitch, Bethany Theological Seminary professor of theology and human science, will be the keynote speaker. The event will take place Saturday evening, June 27, and all day Sunday, June 28, in Fort Wayne, Ind.
“Artificial intelligence has been moving fast, yet many experts say we are still in the early stages—the first drops of rain before the downpour,” said an announcement. “Now we see coming toward us AI assistants and advisors, tutors for children, aides for the elderly, and even AI companions and romantic partners. People will draw the line at different points, yet more and more of us are on speaking terms with machines.
“What does it mean for ministry and for the future of humanity? Christian theology offers crucial insights for charting a pilgrim path through this new territory. Join us for learning and conversation on what happens when artificial intelligence meets ancient biblical wisdom.”
