“I Object! Now What? (Opposing War and the Things that Make for War)” is a virtual event offered by On Earth Peace for youth and young adults who are affected by Selective Service registration and who would be subject in the eventuality of a military draft.
Youth groups and their adult advisors, young adult Sunday school classes, and any other youth and young adults who feel they would benefit are invited to participate.
The program will be scheduled as Zoom workshop on Sunday, May 17, with times to be determined. Please RSVP by May 12 at www.onearthpeace.org/2026_05_17_co_sunday_school. Those who RSVP are expressing interest in attending the program and On Earth Peace will respond to schedule a time.

Said a description: “Whether we like it or not, the military system is becoming ever harder to avoid, and if we are to be serious about our historic commitment to peace, we must be contemplating peace together, intentionally, and NOW! Join with youth and young adults from across the country during your Sunday school hour to talk about our biblical and Brethren commitment to peace, how the current Selective Service System affects your rights and privileges, and how you can be a conscientious objector starting now.
“Together, we will explore the ‘hows’ relating to being a conscientious objector (CO) and the ‘what ifs’ of what that means in the real world today. This will include preparing youth and young adults for documenting their CO status, what registration and resistance would require today, and the very real risks and questions conscientious objection asks of those who choose to live as a CO.”
The organizers recommend beginning the conversation in advance of the Zoom workshop with “Call of Conscience,” the Church of the Brethren’s curriculum on conscientious objection, in order to enter the conversation with some background information. “Call of Conscience” is an online curriculum available as a free download, accompanied by a printed youth workbook that may be purchased from Brethren Press.
