From the Review and Evaluation Committee
As we collectively prepare to gather at the 2026 Annual Conference in Fort Wayne near the end of this month, the Review and Evaluation Committee has been working diligently on its task of making a comprehensive study of the denominational program.
The Review and Evaluation Committee is made up of five members elected by the 2025 Annual Conference: Daniel Rudy (chair), Chris Douglas (secretary), Lupita Ortiz-Cruz, Ilexene Alphonse, and Anna Lisa Gross. A new Review and Evaluation Committee is called in the fifth year of each decade to review and evaluate the organizational structures and procedures of the Church of the Brethren.
As part of that study, the committee will be asking delegates the following questions:
- Where do you see your congregation most connected to the denomination? What has helped your congregation to be connected in that way?
- Where does that connection feel weak, unclear, or missing? What obstacles has your congregation experienced when trying to connect with the denomination?
- What would strengthen your congregation’s relationship with the denomination? What changes to how we are organized as a denomination might help?
The committee encourages delegates to spend some time in preparation for Annual Conference praying about and pondering these questions. Church members who are not delegates, or are not attending Annual Conference this year, are invited to email responses to reviewandevaluation@brethren.org
