Brethren Press and MennoMedia are announcing a new partnership for quarterly Bible study curriculum coming this fall titled “Salt & Light: A Guide for Biblical Studies.” This new adult curriculum blends “A Guide for Biblical Studies,” published by Brethren Press, and “Salt & Light,” published by MennoMedia.
Building on decades of partnership between the two publishing houses, it will be written by Church of the Brethren and Mennonite biblical scholars, pastors, and educators. A Spanish-language edition will be available in digital form, expanding access and supporting multilingual congregations.
Designed for use in Sunday school classes and small groups and following the Committee on the Uniform Series Bible outlines, “Salt & Light: A Guide for Biblical Studies” integrates biblical study with spiritual formation. Each weekly session invites participants into scripture through a clearly stated purpose, guided spiritual practice, thoughtful commentary, and discussion prompts that encourage meaningful conversation and faithful application.
“Our two publishing houses have spent a year and a half planning this new venture,” said Wendy McFadden, publisher of Brethren Press, “with attention to such details as Bible outlines, lesson format, choice of writers, and design. Congregations will find this resource to be a good blend of both the new and the familiar.”
“For many years, MennoMedia and Brethren Press have collaborated on curriculum for children and youth. Now we are extending this partnership to include adult curriculum,” said Amy Gingerich, executive director and publisher at MennoMedia. “Several years ago, MennoMedia moved away from the Committee on the Uniform Series for Bible outlines, and we think this return back to CUS will be a welcome change for our readers.”
Recognizing the vital role of teachers and facilitators, the curriculum includes practical ideas for leaders such as tips for opening and closing sessions, guidance for fostering rich discussion, and preparation notes that make weekly planning accessible and engaging.
In addition to weekly group sessions, “Salt & Light: A Guide for Biblical Studies” supports personal discipleship throughout the week. Daily Bible readings and suggested resources help participants continue reflecting on scripture and making connections between faith, life, and community beyond the classroom.
“Salt & Light: A Guide for Biblical Studies” follows the Committee on the Uniform Series Bible outlines and will be released quarterly beginning in fall 2026. It will be available to purchase from Brethren Press at www.brethrenpress.com
