A walk through cost questions about National Youth Conference

By Anna Schweitzer

Do you have cost questions about National Youth Conference? Ever wondered how the registration fee for NYC is calculated? Thankfully, this article is here to walk you through it!

There are two main factors: money going directly to the host site (the YMCA of the Rockies in Estes Park, Colo., this year) and money going toward the program of National Youth Conference.

The largest portion of cost goes to the YMCA, around $500 per person for lodging and meals, and to help cover rental of various facilities. The remaining registration fee goes to facilitating the program of NYC. This helps to fund multiple full worship services, engaging and creative workshops, and a service project experience. NYC also relies on a large volunteer staff and honors their work by covering travel expenses.

NYC would not be possible without the generosity of many organizations. The Church of the Brethren Mission and Ministry Board is continuously supportive in making sure that time and staff are invested in the success of NYC. The Zella Gahagen Fund has been benevolent in giving to the Church of the Brethren’s Youth and Young Adult Ministry as a whole, some of which funding will go to NYC this year. The three Annual Conference agencies are also generous in the donations they give to NYC, including Bethany Theological Seminary, Eder Financial, and On Earth Peace.

NYC 2026 takes place at the YMCA of the Rockies in Estes Park, Colo., on July 18-23 for young people in high school and the first year of college (or age equivalent) and their adult advisors. Register online and find more information at www.brethren.org/nyc

We always try to ensure that every dollar NYC participants pay is being used in the most effective and fruitful way. The YMCA provides us the opportunity to be truly in the Rocky Mountains, gives us the right-sized worship space for our group, and is able to comfortably host and feed a group our size.

We know that NYC is a large cost for all attending, including expenses beyond the registration fee. We appreciate the investment that churches and families are making in their youth’s future, to give them a truly transformational and deeply important experience along their faith journey!
