The Deportation Defense Response Team provides the following update on the numbers of Church of the Brethren immigrant members and attenders affected by detention or deportation. For the most part, we cannot provide names, but we can share the data we have as of Aug. 12.
We have 37 Church of the Brethren congregations that are impacted by various concerns around immigration in 5 districts. These are the churches with the most immigrants in their congregations.
In those 5 districts combined, we have 6 churches that are dealing with 11 deportations, with 10 people detained. Some of the families of the detained or deported people are homeless and in need of legal and financial support.
As of Aug. 12, 2025:
Impacted congregations: 37
Districts: 5
Congregations dealing directly with detentions or deportations of members/attendees: 6
Deportations: 11
Detentions: 10
