The Anabaptist Disabilities Network (ADN) and the Church of the Brethren and its Discipleship and Leadership Formation department have renewed their partnership to provide training, education, and resources that support congregations in becoming more inclusive of people with disabilities and mental illness.
ADN is a small organization located in Elkhart, Ind., which serves the Anabaptist community in North America. ADN connects and supports people who have disabilities, their families, and faith communities to create a culture of belonging for everybody.
The renewed commitment is via a signed memo of understanding (MOU) outlining the details of a collaborative partnership focused on disability inclusion and accessibility throughout the Church of the Brethren denomination.
Under this agreement, ADN will continue to serve as the primary provider of disability ministry support for the Church of the Brethren, offering education, consultation, and resources for congregations and districts as well as providing accessibility services and continuing education at denominational gatherings.
In return, the Church of the Brethren will contribute annual financial support to ADN and support ADN’s mission by contributing articles to ADN’s publications and inviting churches to become ADN Partner Congregations. Additionally, the Church of the Brethren will continue to hold an ex officio seat on the ADN board of directors, ensuring a consistent and collaborative voice as both organizations grow their shared ministry.
This agreement reflects the shared commitment to equipping congregations with the tools, resources, and theological foundation necessary to create communities where people of all abilities can thrive.
