By Matt Guynn, for the Standing with People of Color Committee
The Church of the Brethren’s Standing with People of Color Committee is pleased to share two announcements:
Resource list: A curated resource list is now available featuring books, articles, media, and additional resources that provide insight, education, and understanding of anti-racism and racial justice. This guide will be continually improved as we obtain and identify more relevant resources. We hope it will aid in reflection, discussion, and personal growth. We welcome and encourage your suggestions and comments on this guide. Please email us at standingwithpeopleofcolor@brethren.org. The resource list can be found at www.brethren.org/swpoc or www.onearthpeace.org/swpoc.

June 10 online event: You are invited to join us via Zoom on June 10 at 7 p.m. (Eastern time) for a Standing With People of Color Pre-Annual Conference Briefing and Organizing Call. Register at www.onearthpeace.org/2024-06-10-swpoc-organizing-and-briefing. In the last two years, the committee has trained more than 80 members of the Church of the Brethren in facilitating the “7 Prompts” process of Crucial Christian Conversations about Race. The committee focuses on fostering connection among Brethren working on issues of race, culture, and injustice; resourcing and calling for education on these topics; and equipping and calling the church to action that can change systems and communities to be more inclusive and just. What to expect on June 10: an update on the work of the committee, highlights from people already doing the work of racial justice advocacy in the Church of the Brethren, an introduction to purposes and hopes for newly created Church of the Brethren Racial Justice Advocates, and an invitation to join a newly forming network of mutual support for racial justice work.
— Matt Guynn is co-executive director and director of organizing for On Earth Peace.
