Hispanic leaders in Atlantic Northeast District hold gathering

By Mayra Calix, from the Atlantic Northeast District newsletter

The Latin community of Churches of the Brethren from the Atlantic Northeast District, “CLIHDANE,” got together on April 1 at Wyomissing Family Restaurant under the initiative of our district executive Pete Kontra, accompanied by Mary Etta Reinhart from the Witness and Outreach Commission, and Don Mitchell, director of the Church Development Commission.

The purpose of this gathering was to celebrate the successes and challenges that each of our Hispanic churches have experienced lately and to encourage each other. Wonderful stories were shared on how God is moving in the midst and how he is using these challenges on the expansion of his Kingdom here on earth. Eight churches were represented at this event, leaving us filled with joy and hope.

We also had our sister Nancy Heishman, director of the Church of the Brethren’s Office of Ministry, to share with us the purpose of the program Part-time Pastor, Full-time Church and how it can benefit our multi-vocational pastors.

Please pray… For the Latin community of churches in Atlantic Northeast District.

Sister Mayra Calix is one of the program’s circuit riders for our Hispanic congregations in the Atlantic Northeast District. It is our hope that all churches can participate and benefit from it. Glory be to God for all He has done among us and for the fruitful time together. As the psalmist once said, “Behold, how good and how pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity!” Psalm 133:1.
