One: [speaking as if about to go into a long explanation] Pastor Brandon said, “A prism doesn’t create light. It lets light pass through it. And suddenly, color appears everywhere.” This morning…
Two: [interrupting] You know, stick with me for a minute… This prism is like you and me, and all the people here at NYC. Like Pastor Brandon said, God’s light shines through us encouraging us to be US. And like Pastor Cindy said at the first worship – all y’all are the light of the world! SO…
One: [interrupting] … when we shine a light through a prism and it creates these beautiful lights, it’s like us bringing the God-colors into the world!
[One and Two demonstrate shining a light through the prism]
Two: Exactly! We are a great team.
One: [picking back up where she left off] This morning we invite you to take a prism to take home with you as a reminder that God’s light is always shining through you, making YOU the light, and bringing God-colors into the world around you.
[This next part references electric candles each youth group was to share at the beginning of NYC, and that were sent with each youth group as they left. If your youth group has access to the candle you brought home from NYC, consider including this next section also…]
Two: Wait, that’s not all. Remember the candle part???
One: Oh yeah! The candles. Each youth group was supposed to take one candle home with them. Here is the candle we brought down from the mountain. It is to remind us of the light we became together during NYC, and how we are taking a bit of one anothers light home with us.
Two: You are here to be light. We hope the prisms and the candles serve as a reminder of that every day.
