Youth Voice Is Heard in New York and Washington During Christian Citizenship Seminar

During the last week of March, 55 Church of the Brethren youth and advisors joined forces to learn more about the issue of childhood poverty at this year’s Christian Citizenship Seminar. CCS is a week-long event sponsored by the denomination’s Youth and Young Adult Ministries and Office of Public Witness (formerly Peace Witness Ministries) based in Washington, D.C.

National Youth Cabinet Meets, Announces Theme for NYC 2014

A theme has been chosen for the National Youth Conference (NYC) July 19-24, 2014, at Colorado State University in Fort Collins. The announcement came out of a meeting of the National Youth Cabinet this past weekend. The NYC theme will be “Called by Christ, Blessed for the Journey Together.”

Now Is the Time: A Photo Essay from Martin Luther King Day 2013

Cat Gong provides photos of a Martin Luther King Day food collection hosted at the warehouse at the Church of the Brethren General Offices in Elgin, Ill. Youth from across the city of Elgin came together to sort the collection, an estimated 4 tons of donated food.

The Church of the Brethren’s Workcamp Office is highlighting a special workcamp to take place next summer: the “We Are Able” workcamp for intellectually and physically disabled young adults.

Workcamp Coordinators Wrap Up Their Service, Review the Summer

The Church of the Brethren’s Workcamp Office is simultaneously wrapping up the summer and gearing up for next summer’s events. There were 23 workcamps held this summer: 7 for junior high youth, 13 for senior highs, 1 for young adults, and 2 for intergenerational groups. Attending those camps were approximately 500 people–over 100 advisors and adult participants as well as over 350 youth and young adult participants. At each camp there were also two leaders provided by the Workcamp Office. Out of those leaders, about 33 were volunteers.
