Brethren Members Attend Mission Alliance Conference

Members of the Church of the Brethren attended the inaugural national gathering of Missio Alliance on April 11-13. Missio Alliance ( www.missioalliance.org ) is an emerging network of evangelicals and Anabaptists looking for a new way to be the church in an increasingly post-Christendom culture.

Fellowship of Brethren Homes Members Awarded 2013 Continuing Education Grants

Eight members of the Fellowship of Brethren Homes have been awarded Continuing Education Grants for 2013. The $1,000 grants are funded by the denomination’s Health Education and Research Fund, which supports nursing in the Church of the Brethren, and are administered by Congregational Life Ministries.

Youth Voice Is Heard in New York and Washington During Christian Citizenship Seminar

During the last week of March, 55 Church of the Brethren youth and advisors joined forces to learn more about the issue of childhood poverty at this year’s Christian Citizenship Seminar. CCS is a week-long event sponsored by the denomination’s Youth and Young Adult Ministries and Office of Public Witness (formerly Peace Witness Ministries) based in Washington, D.C.

Board Sees New Congregational Survey Tool, Names At-Large Member, Among Other Business

Mission and Ministry Board members got a glimpse of a new congregational survey that will be part of the Vital Ministry Journey for churches and districts, named a new at-large member pending affirmation at Annual Conference, reviewed financial reports from 2012, and made a small change to the 2013 budget among other business at the spring meeting.

Registration Opens for National Older Adult Conference

For adults age 50 and older, it is time to register for the denomination’s 2013 National Older Adult Conference (NOAC), held Sept. 2-6 at Lake Junaluska, N.C. The theme of the conference will be “Healing Springs Forth,” with the scripture verse, “Then you will be refreshed in the Lord” (Isaiah 58:14).

Ten Receive Church of the Brethren Nursing Scholarships in 2012

Ten nursing students are recipients of Church of the Brethren Nursing Scholarships for 2012. This scholarship, made possible by the Health Education and Research Endowment, is available to members of the church enrolled in LPN, RN, or nursing graduate programs.

National Youth Cabinet Meets, Announces Theme for NYC 2014

A theme has been chosen for the National Youth Conference (NYC) July 19-24, 2014, at Colorado State University in Fort Collins. The announcement came out of a meeting of the National Youth Cabinet this past weekend. The NYC theme will be “Called by Christ, Blessed for the Journey Together.”

Nursing Scholarships Are Available Through the Church of the Brethren

The Church of the Brethren awards a limited number of scholarships each year to individuals enrolled in a nursing program. Candidates for the scholarships must be enrolled in a LPN, RN, or nursing graduate program, and be members of the Church of the Brethren.
