Mountville Church hosts memorial for those lost to gun violence in Lancaster County

By Angela Finet

On the International Day of Peace, Sept. 21, Mountville (Pa.) Church of the Brethren hosted a candlelight peace vigil to lament the 100-plus lives lost to gun violence in Lancaster County, Pa.

For 10 days leading up to the event, a t-shirt with the name, age, and date of death of every victim was displayed in the church yard. During the vigil, the names were read aloud–making it personal.

Together with our neighbors and members of the wider community, we sang and prayed together that we would never have to say the name of another precious person lost to senseless violence.
