The Church of the Brethren’s Mid-Atlantic District has announced a new role at the district level titled the Regional Ministry Associate. In April, Charlotte Bear and Rusty Curling were called to this role, beginning May 1.
The need for better connections between the district and congregations was identified during the interim period between the retirement of Gene Hagenberger and the call of Doug Veal to the district executive minister role. The new associates will work with congregations in their geographical region to maintain regular communication, develop relationships with pastoral staff and laity, make congregations aware of resources available to them, support congregations in creating and sustaining healthy ministry programs, connect congregations with neighboring Church of the Brethren congregations as well as the district and denomination, and monitor the overall spiritual, financial, and organizational health of congregations to ensure optimal vibrance and vitality.
The district continues to search for a third person to fill the remaining available role.
