A release from the Standing with People of Color Committee of Annual Conference
As disciples of Jesus Christ, we are called to walk in solidarity with those who face racial injustice and to live out the gospel message of love, justice, and dignity for all. The Standing with People of Color mandate has guided us these past three years in awakening our collective conscience, drawing from the teachings of Christ and inspiration from scriptures like the Good Samaritan (Luke 10) and the Woman at the Well (John 4).
As we approach the close of this phase of the work, we invite racial justice advocates, allies, and all who feel called to stand with people of color in the Church of the Brethren to a vital meet-up for connection, reflection, and discernment on what comes next.
This gathering is a space to forge relationships among committed justice seekers, support one another in leadership, and envision the next steps in dismantling racial hierarchies within our church and society. We will explore how to strengthen grassroots discipleship, appoint local Racial Justice Advocates, and ensure the legacy of this initiative continues to grow. Now is the time to renew our commitment to intercultural competence and faithful action, so that our communities truly reflect God’s vision of shalom. Come be part of the Spirit-led conversation shaping the future of racial righteousness in the Church of the Brethren.
This 90-minute Zoom session is scheduled for June 10 starting at 8 p.m. (Eastern time). To register, go to www.onearthpeace.org/racial_justice_advocates_and_allies_meet_up
