On Earth Peace is co-sponsoring an Intergenerational Workcamp in partnership with the Church of the Brethren’s Workcamp Ministry. The Intergenerational Workcamp will take place Aug. 2-9 at the Brethren Service Center in New Windsor, Md.
“This workcamp is a time for different generations to gather together and share their perspective–all while working side-by-side in faith,” said an announcement of the event. “Participants of all ages will come together to serve, share, and learn how we continue the peace witness of the church, as members of a global community.”
Participants will be invited to “travel back in time and forward…by connecting with passionate volunteers of all ages,” said the announcement. Older workcamp participants will engage in mentoring the youth among the group in order to “bring unique perspectives on the history they have lived through and their years of service,” the announcement said. Younger participants will be invited to “shape the future with their fresh energy for service.”
The workcamp will be held at the Brethren Service Center, which was initiated by Brethren visionaries like M.R. Zigler who also helped found On Earth Peace. Workcampers will participate in service projects that have local, national, and global impacts, including SERRV and the Church of the Brethren’s distribution center for material relief following disasters.
Cost is $285. Go to www.brethren.org/site/PageServer?pagename=grow_youth_ministry_workcamps_registration for online registration.
