Many becoming one through Christ is a theme of the New Testament scriptures, and in this passage is Jesus’ prayer for his followers. There are different ways to understand the Christian idea of many becoming one—as unity of purpose, or having the same spirit, perhaps alignment of values and behavior, living together in community, or even uniformity of belief.
